Electric Strawberry has solidified their reputation as one of the Bay Area’s most kick ass rock ‘n roll acts. Led by singer, Briana Gokay (once described by Austin’s Deli Magazine as a “hypothetical love child shared between Ray LaMontagne and Adele”), ES was a mainstay of the underground rock scene from around 2013-2016 in Oakland & the San Francisco Bay Area. Gokay, along with guitarist Emily Gunn, bassist Bryant Miguel, and drummer Luke Stark, combined their strengths to turn their songs into a full and powerful rock experience. Often drawing inspiration from Soul, Folk, Rock, & Punk music. Fans funded Electric Strawberry’s debut LP via Kickstarter in 2013. With nearly one hundred contributors behind them, ES recorded their self-titled album at Tiny Telephone Studios in San Francisco, sharing a kitchen with Sleater-Kinney in the process. 'Electric Strawberry' was released May 30th, 2014 with an epic party and performance at The Night Light in Oakland. On the coattails of their debut record, the band toured California, played SXSW, held a month-long residency at The Uptown in Oakland, opened for Fantastic Negrito at legendary venue - The Independent, rehearsed in Bart parking lots, competed in SF's Music Video Race, released the gritty sophomore record 'How To Be Social', and got their music into the hands of artists like Grizzly Bear, The Flaming Lips, Courtney Barnett, & many more. The band is planning on playing shows again once it's safe to do so ⚡️🍓
