About

Dom Major is a self proclaimed writer of ‘sad bastard music’ collecting memories and turning them into americana tinged guitar anthems; sometimes like lullabies and other times like discordant angry messes. Previous single releases 'Cigarettes and Beer’ (2018) and ‘Drive Slow (2019) won the support of the indie blogs Louder Than War, For Folks Sake and Americana UK and saw him win the hearts of the rootsy guitar scene across Manchester, opening up for Phoebe Bridges, Harrison Whiteford, Sam Brookes and Chasity Brown. In late 2019, Dom released 4 consecutive singles which included the alt folk-monstrous anthem ‘Sad Song 1’ to celebrate his first European tour alongside label mate, Charlotte Carpenter. Dom’s latest single ‘Both Burn Bright’ released July 3rd 2020 via Babywoman Records is a deliberate step away from previous releases, shaking up the recording process by capturing the magic of 4 people in a room whilst somebody hits record. He says “I wanted to stop feeling like I had to know the answers or go in with these big ideas, I wanted to hear other people respond to the song I’d written.” ‘Both Burn Bright’ is a placeholder whilst Dom works away on new material but is a lionising example of an artist who means it. FFO: Blake Mills, Death Cab For Cutie, Neil Young, Father John Misty.
